1 November

Hey.

First of all, I would like to let everyone who isn't on social media know, that we are officially a winner of Pride of Stevenage Award and couldn't be prouder of how far we've come, what we created and how amazing that makes us feel. We are very grateful to whoever put our name forward and I just wanted to say thank you! We have received the most wonderful gift that I will share with you when I can!

Secondly, as I mentioned before - we have a few copies of a special book for sale in our bakery. The book is called Knead Peace. Every £2.50 of each sale is donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal of Disasters Emergency Committee which provides food, water, shelter and healthcare to families fleeing the conflict.

The book was inspired by Anna Makievska and The Bakehouse Kyiv, where baking has continued throughout the conflict. "Baking connects good people and lets them understand each other, no matter what language they speak," said Makievska. We will hold a small event this Saturday (5th November) and we will offer some tasters in return for a donation. All money we raise will be spent on books for Ukrainian children who are currently in Stevenage. Unfortunately, the war still lasts and sometimes I feel it became our everyday life, we don't really talk about it that much but nothing has changed and all our little acts of kindness will have some kind of impact, so let's meet, raise a little bit of money, try some bakes! The book is available for sale from now on including Saturday (RRP £25).

And now let's talk about the menu! This week we will be serving you sourdough with black rice and black sesame seeds. Black rice is packed with goodness - high in antioxidants, vitamin E and contains more fiber, iron and protein than regular brown rice. It also has a low glycemic index (so sugar is absorbed more slowly providing a more stable energy source). Sounds good right?
