Hello October!
Hello! I am so glad we are entering new season, I think everyone is excited for cosy, long nights in, warm cardigans, endless hot chocolates and cups of tea drunk with a chance to finish that book you started back in June. I am so ready! Autumn is definitely my favourite time of the year, early autumn when it's still a little bit warm, the colours are making my soul sing and just for a little while, world is a beatiful place to live (and then it turns into a grey, dull place).
With the new season, we have slowly started introducing bakes that belong - pumpkin spice buns, carrot cake, buns with spiced apple and soup inspired sourdough. We are also playing with new flavours so watch this space.
I also wanted to say a warm welcome to our two new, lovely bakers who joined the team and are settling in so well. Please say hi to Katie and Phazilah when you see them, they have been brilliant!
Today I also wanted to talk to you about Wednesdays - we have been open for that extra day for quite a while now and, unfortunately, we are not busy enough to keep them going. We will stay open on Wednesdays till the end of October and, if it doesn't pick up, we will cease and resume them in summer. I know some of you use the benefit of a quieter day at Leavened but the numbers just don't add up and we have been loosing a bit of money. I hope you can understand and support this decision.
I also wanted to send out reminder to everyone that there will be another market day at the farm on Saturday 17th October and you are all invited!
You ocasionally ask me about my next trips and I can tell you today that I am beyond excited as I am goining back to Scotland in a month, traveling on Caledonian sleeper, spending an evening with super inspiring Flora Shedden, Scottish baker, book author, founder of Aran Bakery and Lon store. What is more, the event is held in the Highlands, in a very beautiful place and I am absolutely buzzing for it, even if it rains.
Thank you so much for reading, I see we have quite a few new subscribers so welcome and see you very soon!
Iza
