Hey everyone, it seems that I have been quiet again for quite while and, as much as life has been very busy and hectic in the bakery, I really miss putting some words together and letting them into the world so here I am again, with a strong will to do better. I actually wrote a whole long newsletter yesterday but I got distracted and didn't save it. I assume it is for the better, perhaps it wasn't any good.
I am very excited for this season when everything comes back to life in its own pace, the world gets some of it's colour back but it's more about calm balance and pastels rather than sharp contrast of a hot summer. I think it's time when we can implement some changes if we want to, it's so much easier when we are encouraged by daylight and warmth, best time for "new year" resolutions. For me the change means stepping away from doing a lot of physical work in the bakery and focusing on growing my little business from within, looking after admin so it doesn't get overwhelming and making some of the ideas reality. To enable this, our team has gained two new members - Esther and Ellie. Esther is super passionate about all things coffee and she will be looking after you from behind the counter along with our amazing front of the house team. Ellie is currently learning all about the baking but, having been thought by our wonderful Laura, she is already smashing lamination so we have very high hopes for her (no pressure Ellie!:)).
Many of you have been asking about workshops which are sold out at the moment. The next available date will be 31 August and I will let you know once the bookings are open again. I am absolutely over the moon with how much you all want to participate and it gives me a lot of joy and satisfaction to be able to share what I've learned over the years. The best thing about the workshops though is the connection between a group of stranger and also with simple ingredients which, given enough patience and practice, can produce the most amazing fruit of labour, a humble loaf of bread that can be shared (or kept to oneself).
I am also plotting a bun workshop and should be able to reveal some details soon. Also, if you have any ideas about what you would like to learn just drop me an email as I am always open to suggestions.
Finally, an important message is that we are not open Easter Sunday, so we will be back on Thursday 9th April.
Have a lovely Easter, enjoy a bit of sun and (hopefully) some time off.
All the best, Iza.
